List of projects:
- Letter to the teacher: This was our first project in our English class. What we had to do was write a letter to our teacher explaining who we are, what we like to do, what our goals are for this school year were, etc.
- I am from poem: For this project we needed to think about aspects of what make us up. Such as: our language, our culture, our cuisine, where we grew up, who we grew up with, etc.
- Research Groups: We were put into groups for this project and we were assigned to different subject from the book called The Absolutely True Dairy of a Part-Time Indian. The sections were: Trail of Tears, Indians as mascots controversy, Hydrocephaly, Sherman Alexie, Spokane Indian Reservation, Artist Ellen Forney, Alcoholism in reservations, Boarding schools for Indians. My team presented on the Spokane Indian Reservation.
- Event that left a lasting impression: This project is called our watermark. For this project we picked a event that has left a lasting impression in our lives, something that has changed your life either for better or for worse. I picked the event of my near drowning experience. Click on the button called Lasting Impression
- Most Cherished Object: While we were writing the event, we also started writing for our most cherished object. We need to write about an object that we cherished or that means a lot to us in an emotional sort of way.
- Ted Talk: In class we started making Ted Talks. We picked subjects that we feel strongly about. We need to use Ethos (moral character), Pathos (appealing to emotion), and Logos (using logic to convey your message). Then we needed to incorporate our statistics from the HTLWS project, and we need to make sense of the stats too. When we have done that, we needed to present the Ted Talk to our class. The best couple presentations will be picked and they go to an actual stage a present it in front of the entire school.
Semester 2
- Be Heard poem: This was our first project of the semester for English. We had to think of a social justice issue, in my case Gender Identity, and then we needed to be able to work with that specific social justice issue in all three classes. In English, we were tasked for making a poem/song. It had to be on our social justice issue and there were parameters that had to be met (even though I didn't meet them). Click on the first button to look at my poem (please don't look at it though). Also, I worked on a song for my group, it was a song that was preformed and that we voted on. Check it out and click the bottom button.
- Lost in Space: We had to get a survival scenario that we needed to build off of. We needed to create a soft journal and then a "creative journal". Also, we had to have artifacts to go along with our character for the survival scenario and to go along with our journal. Here are pictures of the artifacts and the creative journal. Also, I have my soft journal ready, so you can see the adventures that my character had, and what survival scenario he had.
